What a ride 2016 has been and we are only 11 days into the year.
In the blog last week my husband Kent and I did a video blog to share our hearts about the importance of surrender and obedience in 2016. Those words weren’t out of our mouths 24 hours until the tests began. Isn’t that how it goes?
Job said, “Life is few days and full of trouble.” Man, he nailed that! But Jesus said, “I have come to give you life and give it MORE ABUNDANTLY!”
So, which is true???
BOTH! Life IS few days and full of trouble (thanks to Adam and Eve) BUT thanks be to Jesus we can experience life to the fullest. He never said we wouldn’t have pain or heartache but He promised that He would NEVER LEAVE US and that He would carry us through.
Our family experienced His promises all the more this week. Our lovely daughter-in-law Jenny went into pre-mature labor Monday night. She suffered ALL week. Oh the anguish being so far away. Jenny’s family was with them and so supportive. Jordan was strong and took great care of Jenny. Jenny was tough and courageous.
But, waiting for the next call and the update on the baby was still stressful.
You know that feeling when a minute feels like hours? You feel helpless but all you can do it pray and wait. We know that’s the best thing to do but it’s still not easy.
We had our family praying right away, we asked the staff at our church to pray and we called on a few more prayer warriors. The feeling of calm and peace came over me when people all across the country began to pray. We were still in anguish but a sweet sense of peace filled our hearts. Prayer works!!
The same peace came over Jordan Thursday night when Jenny was in labor. Kent, Emily and I were at the dinner table when Jordan called. We could sense the fear in his voice. He wanted to do everything right but felt it was out of his control. Kent began to pray and in that moment it was like we were right there with him. Peace, Comfort, Strength, and Courage filled our hearts. God’s got this!! This is not a surprise to God and He WILL carry us through.
Today, Monday January 11th, Jenny and baby have been released from the hospital and we are able to hold our precious, most amazing, perfect grandson, Harrison Dawes Humphrey. He spent a very short time in NICU – he was breathing on his own from the moment he arrived in this world. His heart is strong and he is healthy.
So as the Humphrey’s grow in our prayer life even greater in 2016, we challenge you to do the same. Let’s make it a point to love like never before and let the world truly know that we are His disciples!
I love you all so much! Thank you for your prayers, love and support. Thank you for the texts, the emails, the messages…….
Hugs BIG Hugs,
