I put a post out last week on Facebook and Instagram, asking people to share their favorite quotes. Social Media can be a time-drainer and negative, but at times it can be good. I’m so glad last week it was good – so very good!!! Several people sent me a private message and thanked me for posting because reading through the quotes were incredibly encouraging to them. BOOM!!! That’s how Social Media is “soposto” (supposed to) work!

While I was reading over the quotes, I noticed a common theme: the quotes posted from the people I knew were a true reflection of how they are choosing to live.

For instance:

PATSY posted, “Never make a person a priority if they think of you as an option.” Patsy was a part of our small group when we lived in Ohio. She’s been through a lot. Her son, Matt, has Cerebral Palsy so Patsy knows the importance of making people a priority. A few years ago her kind-hearted husband died. In spite of her pain Patsy finds a way of enjoys life and makes sure that while you’re with her, you’re enjoying life too. If you know Patsy at all, you know she makes you feel so loved – when you’re with her, you are a priority!

MELISSA posted a quote from Mother Teresa: “For you see, in the end it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyways.” Melissa was in my youth group back in the 90’s. She was just as committed to God and her relationship with Him then as she is today.  I’ll never forget the time she taught youth. I asked the students if they wanted to teach class one week – she jumped on it. She brought a prop to help get her point across. She gave everyone PopRocks (which was a huge hit) and talked about how we should be “PopRocks” for Jesus. As we sat there with the PopRocks in our mouth thinking about the importance of exploding with a love for Jesus, living our lives out loud and passionate for Him, I thought, “this chick gets it.” So, I wasn’t surprised when I read her favorite quote!! You go Melissa!

I love JONI’s story and her quote could very well been written by her. “A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her.”Joni came to know Christ later in life and has lived so that people (including her husband) would see Jesus through her. She’s a great inspiration to me!!

TRACY’S quote is totally her! She quoted Rick Warren: “Your greatest ministry will most likely come out of your greatest hurt.” Tracy and her husband tried to have a baby which brought them a miscarriage and a lot of pain! Countless prayers later, Tracy gave birth to her miracle baby! She uses her story to encourage others. I have watched Tracy grow in her relationship with Christ and her love for others. She is kind and compassionate and will drop everything to pray for you.

Pain does have purpose – don’t forget that!!!

KIM is a dear friend. She has worked in children’s ministry for as long as I have known her. Her quote is totally her! “No man stands as tall as when he stoops to help a child.” (stated by Danny Thomas, Founder of St. Jude’s Children’s Medical Research).

JENNIFER posted two quotes from Eleanor Roosevelt: – “A woman is like a tea bag- you don’t know how strong she is until she is in hot water” and “It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness.” I met Jennifer this year. I don’t know her very well yet but I can clearly tell that she is a strong woman and she lights a candle by the way she loves people.

NANCY posted: “People will forget what you say, they will forget what you do, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”- Maya Angelou. Nancy loves people. I mean she genuinely loves people. You can’t spend time with Nancy and come away down-hearted or mean-spirited. It’s been a few years since I have seen Nancy but I will never forget how she made me feel: loved, wanted, accepted, needed, special…….and she challenged me to love others the same way.

I met CANDIDA in October when we moved to Tennessee. What drew me to hear from the start was her shining personality, her kindness and her willingness to take the time for others. She has this quote posted in her house, a reflection of what she models so well in life.

“Forgive them anyway…….Be kind anyway……Be honest anyway…….Do good anyway….Give your best anyway.”  Those are some good words to live by everyday.

I could go on and on about the other quotes and the people who posted them. The quotes inspired me. The people who live those quotes inspire me even more.

Today, I celebrate YOU!

You, who were created in the very image of God.

You are amazing.

You are strong.

You give your best.

Be You…the BEST You….others need YOU!

Hugs,

Marie
